3,2,1 PLOVE: Innovative Swimwear Design by Pavlina Miklasova

Combining Material and Form in a Sustainable and High-Tech Approach

Inspired by experimental architecture and conceptual art, Pavlina Miklasova's swimwear design, 3,2,1 PLOVE, pushes the boundaries of traditional swimwear by incorporating innovative materials and manufacturing techniques. With a focus on sustainability and functionality, this collection showcases the designer's unique vision and commitment to creating swimwear that is both aesthetically pleasing and environmentally friendly.

The 3,2,1 PLOVE swimwear collection is the result of an extensive exploration of visual, technological, and social-cultural aspects. Miklasova's aim was to create swimwear that not only meets the needs of the wearer but also reflects the designer's passion for nature and climate. By combining handwork and technical materials, the collection achieves a striking contrast between traditional craftsmanship and modern innovation.

Miklasova's design process involved experimenting with various manufacturing technologies and approaches. The designer sought to connect seemingly contrasting materials and production techniques, while also incorporating environmentally friendly materials. The collection features swimwear made from polyethylene leftovers, recycled polyamide fabric, and hand-stitched neoprene, showcasing the designer's commitment to sustainability and responsible design.

One of the key strengths of the 3,2,1 PLOVE swimwear collection is its synthesis of material and form. Miklasova's meticulous attention to detail and her ability to combine different materials result in swimwear that is not only visually stunning but also functional. The collection offers a range of sizes, ensuring that every wearer can find the perfect fit.

The 3,2,1 PLOVE swimwear collection was developed as Miklasova's diploma project at the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague, Czech Republic. The project began in November 2016 and was completed in June 2017. Miklasova's research for this project encompassed the history of swimwear materials and current trends, with a focus on future transformations and functions of this essential piece of clothing.

Recognized for its innovative design and commitment to sustainability, the 3,2,1 PLOVE swimwear collection was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Fashion, Apparel, and Garment Design category in 2018. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life through art, science, design, and technology.

With her 3,2,1 PLOVE swimwear collection, Pavlina Miklasova has successfully reimagined traditional swimwear, incorporating innovative materials and manufacturing techniques. Her commitment to sustainability and functionality sets her designs apart, making a positive impact on the fashion industry and inspiring future generations of designers.
